Xavi Reacts To ‘Difficult Opponent’ After Europa League Draw

Why Barcelona Drew Inter Milan- Xavi

Barcelona Manager, Xavi Hernandez, has responded to his team’s matchup with Manchester United in the Europa League play-off.

The Spaniard expressed his displeasure with the draw, calling it the “worst draw” and noting that the Catalan giants have been assigned the “most difficult opponent.”

Naija News recalls that the Champions League and the Europa League draw were held today in Switzerland when 32 teams knew their fate on who to face next year in the next stage.

After Monday’s draw, the Spanish club will face Manchester United in February for a berth in the round of 16.

Recall that Manchester United defeated Real Sociedad last week in Spain but the 1-nil victory against Imanol Alguacil was not just enough for the English side.

Following Inter Milan and Bayern Munich in their Champions League group, Barcelona was demoted to the Europa League.

Then, according to Xavi, his team has had “no luck” drawing against Manchester United who were defeated 3 nil in their last meetings, thanks to two goals from Lionel Messi and a goal from Philippe Coutinho.

According to Metro, Xavi told reporters, “It is the most difficult opponent once again. But we will look forward to it.

“They are a historic side, they have grown a lot with Ten Hag, and they have great players. It’s the worst draw we could have got. Once again. No luck.”
