These are the top 10 Nigerian artistes that own the year 2022

The year 2022 has been a very intriguing one for the music business.
Numerous breakthroughs, albums, disputes, hits, etc. have occurred. And the year has only been going for six months.

Here is a list of the top musicians of 2022 so far. There are still six months left, so a lot could still change, but this list is based on recent months.

Top 10 Nigerian artistes that own the year 2022

Asake

With all of his exploits, it’s only right that Asake is the number one on this list, for real.

Every freaking single was a hit! From “Omo Ope” to “Sungba” to “Palazzo” to “Peace Be Unto You.” The year isn’t even over, and Asake is already on top. Imagine what he can do in the next six months. Amazing times ahead!

Omah Lay

Omah Lay is gearing for the release of his debut album, “Boy Alone” which is set to hit the stores on July 15.

He has released two singles already including the collab with Justin Bieber, “Attention.” His last single, “Woman” is quite something too. And whichever way, he’s ready for the album release.

Burna Boy

Burna Boy hasn’t really done much this year. But for that, he’d have been higher up on the list.

He has released one major hit, though. The heartbreak bop, “Last Last” was released about a month ago. He also assisted YBNL artist, Asake, on the remix of the hit, “Sungba.”

BNXN (fka Buju)

BNXN somehow always manages to stay on top. And it’s mostly due to the features. He’s done only a few this year, compared to the action he gave us last year, though.

The remix of his song, “Kilometer” with Zinoleesky made waves. He’s also been on a song with Falz and his song with Pheelz, “Finesse” was a monster hit.

Victony

Victony is that new kid on the block who’s been punching above his weight. His EP, “Outlaws” has been a success.

With hits like “Apollo” and “Kolomental,” you can’t deny that Victony is definitely an artist to watch. He’s coming for the big leagues surely.

Davido

Even if Davido doesn’t release any songs, he’ll still be on this list based on the quality of the collaborations he has done.

He started the year on Skiibii’s “Baddest Boy” and has gone on to do songs with CKay, Focalistic, and Young Jonn.

Davido was also featured on the official World Cup 2022 Soundtrack this year.

His last release, “Stand Strong” is an impressive lead single for his next album.

Kizz Daniel

Kizz Daniel is doing things. His 2021 EP, “Barnabas” has refused to leave the charts and continues to do numbers on every platform.

His singles this year include “Oshe” featuring The Cavemen, and “Buga” with Tekno. Very hot songs indeed. Kizz Daniel is having another amazing year.

Rema

Rema came through with his debut album, “Rave & Roses” earlier this year and this has changed the game for him totally.

He is not just that kid with one hit anymore. Rema’s a real top musician now and he deserves all the accolades he’s getting. He should definitely get that Artist of the Year nod when the awards season comes.

Wizkid

Sometimes it’s hard to believe Wizkid’s “Made in Lagos” was released almost two years. The album is still one of the top albums in the country and that says something.

With “Essence” still bagging certifications, and Wizkid’s appearance on songs like Asa’s “IDG” and Chris Brown’s “Call Me Every Day,” Wizkid is definitely on top this year. “More Love, Less Ego” is on the way too!

Fireboy DML

Fireboy, a YBNL signee, released the 14-track album on Friday, August 5, 2022. His viral smash tracks “Peru” and “Peru remix,” which features Ed Sheeran, are included in “Playboy.”

Also included on the CD are Asake, Chris Brown, and Shensea.

Remember how Fireboy posted on Twitter in July to unveil the album’s cover, release date, and pre-order link?

“Playboy,” my third studio album, will be released on August 5,” he stated. now available for pre-sale.

“Playboy” comes after Fireboy’s 2019 debut album “Laughter, Tears, and Goosebumps” and his 2020 album “Apollo.”
