Saudi Prince Promises Players Rolls Royce For Argentina Win

Players of the Saudi Arabia national team have been promised a Rolls Royce Phantom by the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, for defeating Argentina in their World Cup opener in Qatar.

Recall that the Saudi Arabia side on Tuesday defeated Argentina 2-1.

The decision of the Prince of Saudi Arabia to give players a Rolls Royce would not be the first time such would happen.

In the 1994 tournament, Saeed Al-Owairan were gifted luxury cars after scoring the winning goal in a 1-0 victory against Belgium.

Argentina in the 2022 World Cup despite having the best player in the world and seven-time Ballon d’or winner, Lionel Messi on their side, failed to grab a point from the match.

The Argentina side despite dominating the match, couldn’t convert it into goals.

Argentina had started the first half of the game with a goal from the spot kick which was scored by Messi.

Saudi Arabia, however, turned the game around immediately after the second half resumed with Saleh Alshehri’s goal, 48′, levelling up with Argentina and Saleh Aldawsari’s 53rd-minute winning goal.

Recall that Saudi King, Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud declared a national holiday to celebrate the victory over Argentina.

All employees in the public and private sectors as well as students in all phases of education were given the day off to celebrate the stunning victory.

Saudi Arabia is currently top of Group C, while Mexico and Poland shared a point.
