Oshoala praises red-hot Monday Gift, shares

Gift led the Queens to a comprehensive 4-0 demolition of Naija Ratels in the Super XI on Tuesday, scoring an excellent hat-trick.

She netted two of the goals in the opening half to put Queens 2-0 at the break before wrapping up the hat-trick with the fourth goal of the game just after the hour mark.

Oshoala, who recently won the pichichi after she finished as the top scorer in the Spanish women’s league, reacted to that performance from her national teammate, taking to her social media account to eulogise the prodigiously gifted forward.

“Again MONDAY GIFT ….the future is bright ⭐️⭐️❤️,” Oshoala posted on her official Twitter account.

Etim Edidiong was the other scorer of the day for the former champions who sealed a second win in as many matches in the NWFL Super XI.

In a related development, Oshoala shared an interesting WhatsApp exchange between her and Gift before Bayelsa Queens took to the pitch against Ratels.

According to the Barcelona star, a few hours before the game, she challenged Gift to score a hat-trick and she would reward her.

Gift netted a hat-trick later and came back to remind her mentor that she has ‘done her part’.

“Mama, I have done my part o,” Gift said. “Don’t joke with me, I am your real DNA.”

Reacting to the message, Oshoala said;

“I don go find trouble oo 😱😱, I challenged @GiftMonday21 to score hatt6rick today and she did …..omo I don enter gbese like this 😭. She even negotiated for 2 last night on d phone, I agreed…..Modaran 😭😭😭 .”

Like her mentor, Gift is looking to lead Bayelsa Queens to the NWFL crown and is off to a flyer in the Super XI.

She is the first player to score a hat-trick in the two-day-old competition ongoing in Benin, Edo State.
