Nigerians have taken to Twitter to drag the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore, over the ruling party’s loss in the Osun governorship election.

Naija News reports that the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ademola Adeleke, defeated the incumbent governor of the state and the APC governorship candidate, Gboyega Oyetola,  to win the election.

Adeleke won 17 local government areas in the state, while the candidate of the APC, Oyetola won the remaining 13 local government areas in the state.

The incumbent governor of the state gathered 375,027 votes, while Adeleke polled 403,371 votes to win the keenly-contested election.

The PDP governorship candidate was declared the winner of the exercise by the INEC returning officer for the Osun State Governorship election, Prof Oluwatoyin Temitayo Ogundipe, on Sunday.

Following the announcement, some netizens took to Twitter to mock Omisore over Oyetola’s loss in the election and also remembered his role in the 2018 Osun governorship election.

Below are some of the reactions.

@Naija_talker wrote: “Now that APC has lost Osun governorship election, will Omisore dump APC after 2023 election? Man desperately wants to govern Osun State. Always moving from one party to another.”

@Tee_Classiquem1 wrote: “Senator Iyiola Omisore served as the deputy governor of Osun state under AD for 4yrs, served as a senator under PDP for 8 yrs, became the governorship candidate of PDP in 2014, contested under SDP in 2018, defect from SDP to APC in 2021, elected as APC national secretary In 2022.

@SodiqTade wrote: “Omisore will now be the APC Leader in Osun State as Oyetola will soon be a former Governor. Unreal politics.”

@dondekojo wrote: “What happened to Ife votes is the same thing that will happen to Buhari’s NW votes. They can’t be transferred. It was identity politics. I kept saying it, they kept shouting “Omisore factor”.

@AdejumoKabir2 wrote: “Omisore did not win the 2018 rerun for Oyetola in Ife North. It was a case of clear rigging.

“Timothy Owoeye, House of Assembly Speaker & Fatai Kolawole, ex-SUBEB Permanent Secretary supervised the rigging.”

@Viqforlan wrote: “Ife East wey we dey fear Omisore factor sef na only 1k+ dem take win 😂”
