Niger Tornadoes boss Abubakar Bala is unhappy with the officiating during his side’s defeat to Rivers United.

Rivers United defeated Tornadoes 2-1 albeit in controversial fashion at the Adokiye Amiesimaka stadium on Tuesday.

The referee ruled out what would have been a Niger Tornadoes’ equalizer in the first half, and overlooked two penalty appeals.

“I don’t always want to comment about officiating. The referee is the judge and he has adjudged the goal as illegitimate, so be it,” Bala said after the game.

“It was a very good game, as you can see, we played against a very strong and good team, they are the league’s champions, we respect them for that.”

The Niger Tornadoes boss also faulted his player for fluffing their lines when it mattered most.

“We had our match plan which is not to defend but to attack, we executed that very well because we didn’t seat back, but my only problem is, we capitulated too much in front of goal, but not withstanding, we will go back and work on that,” He concluded.
