Iheanacho, Lookman & Madueke fail to shine as Leicester, PSV share spoils

All three were on the pitch but Kelechi Iheanacho and Noni Madueke started while Lookman was a second-half substitute

In what was the first leg of their Europa Conference League quarter-final tie, the trio failed to inspire their respective teams in what turned out to be a rudderless goalless affair at the King Power.

Iheanacho, who was on for 67 minutes, had the best chance of the three to register a goal, but missed the sitter in the 20th minute of the game, with the goalkeeper at his mercy.

He was replaced by his compatriot, Lookman, just after the hour mark but like the ‘senior man’, the former Everton man also failed to have an impact in the 23 minutes he spent on the pitch.

It was a similar case for Dutch-born Noni Madueke, who was the other Nigerian on the pitch.

Despite lasting longer than his other compatriots, Madueke failed to test Leicester goalkeeper, Kasper Schmeichel, before he was replaced by Bruma in the final eight minutes of the game.

Both clubs shared the spoils in the end in what was an uninspiring Europa Conference League encounter that failed to produce a goal.

Leicester City and PSV Eindhoven still have all to play for in the second leg next week in the Netherlands.

With the first leg ending in a goalless draw, this particular encounter remains very much evenly poised.
