Bishop Adebiyi: Fayemi mourns Ekiti scholar-priest

Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has described the passing of the retired Bishop of Lagos West Anglican Diocese, Peter Adebiyi, as a colossal loss.

Bishop Adebiyi, an indigene of Osi Ekiti in Ido Osi Native Authorities Space of Ekiti State died on Friday. He was aged 79.

Fayemi, in a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, mentioned the late Scholar-Priest was an admirable persona who lived a lifetime of service worthy of emulation.

The governor mentioned the late Adebiyi’s life was a sworn statement of a younger church organist whom many individuals by no means anticipated might turn out to be an important clergyman; describing him as a humble big by means of whom God did many wonders.

Whereas noting that Adebiyi was a person of integrity and impeccable character, the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Discussion board (NGF) asserted that the late clergyman jealously guarded that which was entrusted to him by God and the church; resulting in the expansion of the Anglican Diocese of Lagos West which has no fewer than 270 new church buildings.

Governor Fayemi said that the late Bishop Adebiyi concurrently pursued a profession within the ministry in addition to a parallel profession as an educational and taught at Ondo State College (now Ekiti State College) Ado Ekiti between 1983 and 1987 and later lectured on the Lagos State College, Ojoo.

“The information of the loss of life of Bishop Peter Adebiyi was stunning and surprising. He was one in all Ekiti’s most interesting, a worthy Ekiti Ambassador and a person of honor. He was a person of integrity who distinguished himself as a priest and an educational. He didn’t restrict himself to the church, he had a second handle.

“Bishop Adebiyi was a superb and provoking Ekiti man who all the time spoke reality to energy. We are going to sorely miss his clever counsels. Could the great Lord grant him everlasting relaxation and provides the household the fortitude to bear the loss”, the Governor mentioned.
