Atiku Reacts To Wike’s Call For Reconciliation

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has expressed his readiness to reconcile with the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike and his allies.

Recall that Governor Wike’s camp pulled out of the Atiku’s presidential campaign council over their call for the resignation of the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu.

Governor Wike’s camp identified as the G-5 had Ayu’s resignation over northern dominance in key positions in the party.

The Rivers State Governor, however, on Wednesday while speaking in Bauchi State after meeting with the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, said he and his allies are still open to reconciliation.

Wike called for justice, equity and fairness in the party ahead of the 2023 general election.

Atiku while reacting to Wike’s comments in a statement released through his media adviser, Paul Ibe welcomes the reports that the aggrieved Governors are ready for reconciliation.

The PDP presidential candidate expressed commitment to negotiate with the G-5 to resolve the crisis rocking the main opposition party.

The statement reads, “The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party and former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar welcomes reports that the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike and his group are favourably disposed to the resolution of the issues with the PDP candidate.

“Atiku Abubakar also expresses his commitment to a negotiation that will resolve the crisis of confidence and pave the way for a much stronger and united PDP.

“The former Vice President of Nigeria notes that never at any time of the differences that have ensued have the doors been shut to Wike and his group.

“He enjoins every leader of the party and their supporters irrespective of their leanings to be open-minded and support the process of resolution of the extant issues.”
