5 Cosmetic Procedure Trends | THISDAY Style

In today’s society, we are constantly bombarded with images of “perfection” and beauty standards that can be hard to live up to.

What’s made it even more interesting is that with technological advancements and techniques, there are now more options than ever for those who want to live up to these standards. And so it is no surprise that cosmetic procedures have become increasingly popular.

However, it is important to weigh the pros and cons of each procedure before making a decision and to consider natural options as well. Let’s take a closer look at trending cosmetic procedures:

Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL)

The BBL involves taking fat from one body part (usually the abdomen or thighs) and transferring it to the buttocks to create a more rounded and lifted appearance. It can provide dramatic results, but not without risks. Complications such as fat embolisms and infections have been reported, and there have even been death cases. It is important to choose a board-certified plastic surgeon with experience performing BBLs and follow all post-operative instructions carefully.

Lipoplasty (Liposuction)

Lipoplasty, commonly known as liposuction, is a procedure that removes excess fat from various parts of the body. The process involves sucking out fat from areas where fat is difficult to lose, creating a more pleasing aesthetic shape. The target areas are areas such as the abdomen, thighs, and arms. Weight gain after the procedure can lead to a return to the previous shape. Additionally, liposuction can lead to complications such as bleeding, infection, and uneven contouring. While it is generally considered safe, it is important to note that it is not a substitute for a healthy diet and exercise.

Botox

Botox is a cosmetic injection that can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. It works by temporarily paralysing the muscles that cause these lines to form. Too much Botox can lead to a frozen, unnatural appearance. Additionally, there have been reports of complications such as drooping eyelids and difficulty swallowing. While it is generally considered safe, choosing a qualified, experienced provider is important.

Rhinoplasty (Nose Job)

Rhinoplasty is a procedure that alters the shape and size of the nose. It can be used to reduce a large nose and reshape the tissue and bone to create a delicate, pointed nose. A nose job also helps fix a broken nose, improve breathing during sleep, and repair a deviated septum (the cartilage and bone in the nose). Complications such as bleeding, infection, and breathing difficulties can occur.

Chin Sculpting

Chin sculpting is a procedure that can improve the appearance of the chin and jawline. It involves injecting fillers to add volume or using a surgical implant to enhance the shape. The risk of dermal fillers in your chin is very low, but like getting any other injection, there is a small risk of swelling and bruising for a few days after injecting the fillers. There is also a small risk of lumps in the chin and a very tiny risk of injecting the fillers into a blood vessel, which may cause skin damage. Complications such as infection and asymmetry can also occur.

While these cosmetic procedures can enhance one’s appearance, it’s important to consider natural options. A healthy diet, regular exercise, and proper skin care can all contribute to a youthful and glowing complexion. Additionally, embracing natural beauty can boost confidence and promote self-love. However, if you choose to pursue a cosmetic procedure, it’s important to do proper research and seek out a qualified professional. Look for a provider with a proven track record of success and certification from a reputable organisation. Also, don’t be afraid to ask questions and voice any concerns you may have.
