Supporters of the Labour Party (LP) in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, have today taken to the streets to canvass support for its presidential candidate Peter Obi, saying he is the one that can rescue Nigeria from its present worrisome state.
Members of different support groups, who were present at the rally, appealed to the people of the state to support their candidate because he is the only one who can solve Nigeria’s problems.
According to the LP’s National Chairman, Julius Abure, Nigerians are tired of old hands and need new, tested, and trusted young person like Peter Obi who understands the problems of the country and can solve them.
Abure, who was represented by LP National Financial Secretary, Olugbenga Daramola, said the rally was not only to celebrate the party’s presidential candidate but to create a sensitization exercise by the support groups for the flagbearer, “we are going round to tell Ekiti people that Obi is the only one that can do it better.”
The State Coordinator, Coalition for Peter Obi, Rev. Olugbenga Daini, revealed that representatives of no fewer than 16 support groups under the coalition were in attendance at the rally, noting that it was to sensitize Ekiti people that a wind of change is blowing and everybody should embrace it.
The Ekiti LP Chairman, Odunayo Okunade, asserted that the attendance at the rally and the reaction of the Ekiti people showed the populace acceptability of LP and readiness to embrace solutions to the country’s problem which voting for Obi in 2023 represented.
Okunade said, “LP is the way to go, other parties had given Nigerians promises and they had failed Nigerians. Our message to Ekiti people and Nigerians is that with Obi, the country’s injury will soon be healed”.
“We should embrace what God has given us, God has given us Peter Obi. We have tried PDP, we have tried APC, it is time for us to try LP, which God has given us now. Obi has a track record, he has the energy and the capacity to deliver.”
“He was Anambra Governor for eight years, we saw what he did. That shows us that we need him. He will move Nigeria from a consumer nation to a producing nation.”
