2023: Ayu, Saraki Jostling For SGF Position

Atiku, Saraki, Wike Reportedly 'Emerge As Favourites' For PDP Presidential Ticket

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has accused the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, of already sharing political positions in case the party wins next year’s election.

Naija News reports that the governor made this known while speaking at a media briefing in Port Harcourt on Friday.

He stated that the embattled National Chairman of the PDP, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, and former Senate President, Bukola Saraki are jostling to emerge as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) if Atiku succeeds President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

“Some people have been given positions as we speak. Ayu wants to become the SFG. These are things happening in the party that we can’t say in public,” Wike said.

According to the outspoken Rivers State governor, the PDP presidential candidate has also promised someone else the position of Senate President.

Wike called on Ayu to step down to help the party win the 2023 election, stressing that they are not accusing the PDP chairman of any wrongdoing.

Meanwhile, Wike alleged that Iyorchia Ayu took money from a presidential candidate in Lagos State.

The PDP chieftain challenged Ayu to deny the claims, noting that he has evidence. Wike, however, refused to mention the individual who Ayu collected the money from.

Wike who said he was hugely pained that he was unable to win the PDP’s presidential primary and go on to battle the APC said the money Ayu collected did not enter PDP‘s account.

He said: “Will he deny the fact that he did not collect one billion naira from Lagos? Yes, let him deny it, I will tell him who gave him the money.

“Not Lagos state government, but someone in Lagos. The money was given to him in Lagos. He met one of the presidential aspirants and told him he was not sure state governors would want to sponsor the party.

“Let Ayu say no, I will even call some of the businessmen and how the money was arranged in Lagos. That money did not enter the account of PDP. But we are not attacking Ayu on that basis.”
