Zulum Donates 259 Houses, Over 100 Million Naira To Police In Borno

The governor of Borno state, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has disclosed that the government has allocated 259 houses and the sum of N110m to the Nigerian Police force operating in the state.

Governor Zulum stated this during the launch of the Nigerian Police Force Microfinance Bank (NPFM Bank), Borno state branch (NPFM Bank).

Bank

The Microfinance Bank is designed to support small and medium businesses for police families, their relatives and civilians in Borno state.

The opening of the bank in Maiduguri was attended by the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali.

Houses

During the inauguration ceremony, Zulum stated that the distribution of more than 259 houses to the police was done as compensation for the government’s use of some land owned by the police to develop some infrastructure projects in the state capital.

According to Governor Babagana Zulum, 110 million Naira has been allocated, 50% of the amount, which is N55m, is Borno’s contribution for the purpose of developing the bank’s operations at the initial stage.

The rest of the N55m, Zulum continued to explain, will be used to support the families of police officers in two ways.

First, 25 million Naira will be distributed to the families of policemen who died on duty.

He ordered that the money be deposited in the account of the children left by the dead police officers.

Policewomen

The remaining 30 million naira, the governor said, will be deposited in the savings account to support female police officers working across Borno state.

Zulum praised the Inspector General of Nigeria, Usman Baba Alkali, for launching the Borno branch of the bank which he said showed how the IGP gave priority to the welfare of the police.

During his speech, the Inspector General of the Nigerian Police, Usman Baba Alkali, thanked Governor Zulum for his support to the Nigerian Police Force.
