Zamfara INEC conducts governorship, state assembly elections peacefully

The Zamfara State wing of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has conducted the governorship and state house of assembly elections peacefully with impressive voters’ turnout.

Speaking with newsmen after casting his ballot at the Buga polling unit in Maradun town, Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle expressed satisfaction over the huge voters’ turnout.

Accordingly, the presiding officers commenced the voting at the scheduled time by the electoral body, saying that all the parties’ agents reported early to their duty posts on time.

“I commend the INEC, the security operatives and the electorate for voting in an orderly manner”, the Governor added.

At Talata Mafara, former Governor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, said after he voted that there was no cause to worry regarding the conduct of the governorship and state assembly elections in the local government area.

“In every election, there must be a winner and a loser. So whoever loses should join forces with winner to build a better Zamfara State.”

DAILY POST reports that in Amka, Bakura, Maradun, Bukkuyyum, Gumi and Talata Mafara local Government Areas, there seems to be no strong opposition as APC was comfortable in the areas.

But in Gusau, the State capital, Tsafe, Bungudu and Maru Local Government Areas, there are serious struggles between the ruling APC and the opposition PDP in the State.
