Actress Yetunde Bakare and Singer Darey Art Alade have reacted to the news of suspected kidnap kingpin, John Ewa alias John Lyon, who was recently arrested in Abuja.

The entertainers dropped their opinions regarding a viral video of the alleged kidnapper begging for forgiveness after his arrest.

In her stance, Yetunde Bakare said Lyon didn’t deserve mercy because he didn’t show mercy on his victim. In her words:

“Begging for Mercy when you don’t have mercy on your victims. God is indeed patient.”

According to Darey Alade, Lyon and the others deserve to face maximum charges for the crimes allegedly committed. In his words:

“Ah so he targets bank employees. Niyenn and he was a former cleaner at the bank abi. I’m getting you. The authorities better load them with charges. Perfect example of “don’t believe the hype on the gram”. God protect your people.”

The police on Monday, September 26 paraded Lyon alongside three members of his suspected kidnap gang at the Police Officers Mess, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital.

Lyon has been on the wanted list of the police for various alleged abductions in the state.

In the viral video, he pleaded for forgiveness after he was arrested, claiming that his wife was just delivered of a baby boy.

Lyon also claimed he only participated in two kidnapping operations before his arrest. He said:

“Forgive me, make una forgive me, my wife just born sef, a boy.”

According to his bio on Facebook, the Bayelsa State indigene is a former member of staff of Sterling Bank.

In 2019, the suspect put his weight behind the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa, David Lyon.

But in February 2020, the Supreme Court sacked Lyon barely 24 hours to his inauguration.
