Wike’s Camp Insists Ayu Must Go

The camp of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has insisted that the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu must resign from office ahead of the 2023 general election.

The camp has listed Ayu’s resignation as the party chairman as one of its demands to support the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar.

Governor Wike’s camp consists of other governors such as the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, former Governor of Cross Rivers State, Donald Duke, Prof Jerry Gana and several others.

The camp claimed that they will work for PDP’s victory in 2023 if Ayu fulfils his promise to resign if a northerner emerges as the party’s presidential candidate.

The senior special assistant (SSA) to Governor Wike on Media, Marshal Obuzor while speaking during a Leadership Twitter Spaces said the main opposition party can not win in the forthcoming election without unity.

He further stated that the crisis rocking the party would not affect the chances of the PDP winning the governorship election in the state.

According to Obuzor, Governor Wike and PDP have performed in the state, adding that the people of the state are literate they who to vote for.

Obuzor while speaking on the allegations levelled against Ayu on receiving an N1 billion bribe, he said Governor Wike had challenged the PDP National Chairman to deny it.

Speaking on whether Governor Wike has a personal agenda, Obuzor said he is working for the interest of the Southern people.

Obuzor said, “Yes, he is working for the South. People work for interest. Let them honour the agreement before getting to power.

“Overtime, there are things Wike accepts and some he can’t accept. Wike fought APC when others were quiet. He fought about the IPOB when others were quiet. PDP must put its axe together. If we must win”.
