Why We Defeated Aston Villa 4-2

EPL: Erik ten Hag’s First Signing For Man United Revealed

Manchester United manager, Erik Ten Hag has revealed why his team defeated Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Thursday.

Naija News reports that the Red Devils defeated Aston Villa 4 goals to 2 in their Carabao cup tie on Thursday evening.

However, with the victory against Unai Emery’s men, United will go up against Vincent Kompany’s Burnley at home in the fourth round of the competition.

Also, the Dutchman’s side will have some measure of retaliation for their 3-1 Villa Park loss on Sunday, which was their first setback since losing to Manchester City in the city derby on October 2.

Both the Villans and the Maguire-led team showed a poor performance to the home and away fans in the first half, but a 6-goal thriller came in the second half of the match.

Ten Hag, the former Ajax coach who made a switch to Old Trafford last season expressed his joy at seeing his team’s fighting spirit as they came back twice to level the scoreboard and also claim the victory.

The manager, while speaking to the reporters after the game, said, “The fighting spirit was back,”

“The players are not robots, I know that, but what I can’t accept is that you get beaten like on Sunday. It was quite clear, the reaction from the team today” he continued.

“To go down and fight like this, I see progress in our attitude and mentality. We are going in the right direction.”

Villa took the lead via Ollie Watkins in the 48th minute, but Anthony Martial equalized a few seconds later, and the advantage they gained through Diogo Dalot’s 61st-minute own goal lasted only six minutes until Rashford scored.

Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay scored the last two goals to give United a two-goal lead.
