The details of the meeting between the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and Nigeria’s former Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (rtd) have emerged.

As earlier reported by Naija News, Atiku on Friday, visited IBB at his Minna hilltop residence in Minna, Niger State in the company of some top PDP chieftains.

Speaking to newsmen after the meeting which was held behind closed doors, Atiku disclosed that he was in the state to pay respect to the former President and to consult with him.

He said Babangida and others like him nursed the country to where it is and they remain relevant in the scheme of things.

In his words, “We will continue to come and pay our respect to them and remind them of their contribution to this country. We consider them fathers of post-war independence and they also nurse the current democratic dispensation in the country.”

Borno Attack

Speaking about the recent attack on his convoy in Borno State, Atiku told newsmen that the attack was orchestrated by political leaders in the state.
