Weapons, Charms Recovered As Soludo Demolishes Kidnapper's Haven In Anambra

Anambra State Governor, Charles Chukwuma Soludo has commenced the demolition of kidnappers, and terrorist hideouts in the state.

This is as the governor vowed to comb out every form of criminality in the state during his tenure.

Naija News understands that Soludo had given a go-ahead to security agents to ensure compliance with the demolition of all buildings being used by criminals in the state.

Acting swiftly to the governor’s directive, a building in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area which was reportedly used by kidnappers to house their victims was wrecked on Friday.

Naija News understands that the security agents in the state had last week acted on information gathered from an arrested gang member to locate one of the terrorist havens in the state.

They stormed the building and rescued three kidnap victims, including a priest of the Catholic Church, while also recovering the priest’s SUV and killing one of the suspected kidnappers.

The building, a dilapidated three rooms structure was, however, demolished yesterday after a joint security team stormed it for more operation. Items recovered from the operation include charms, gun bullets and other items suspected to belong to previous kidnap victims, while a shrine used for the fortification of the criminals was also demolished.

It was reported that two more suspects were arrested during the Friday raid with one suspected to be a native doctor who works with the criminals.

Speaking on the development, Governor Soludo while addressing a press earlier, said the demolition was in line with the state government’s policy that any property used to perpetuate criminality will either be confiscated or demolished.

The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria commended the efforts of the State Joint Security Task Force, saying the demolition exercise would serve as a deterrent to other criminals.

He said: “We have made it part of our policy that any property used for criminal purposes in Anambra will be demolished. That building demolished was being used as a den for criminal activities, and the government’s policy will not allow any criminality to reign in the state.

“Henceforth, criminals will have no place in any part of Anambra State. I assure you that this government is fully determined to ensure that the state is safe for everyone and that people can move freely around without fear or molestation.”

Soludo commended citizens who have been cooperating with security agents. He urged them to continue to report strange and criminals operating in their communities to security agencies.
