‘We Share In Your Grief’

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has commiserated with internationally renowned musician, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, over the passing of his son, Ifeanyi Adeleke.

Naija News recalls that Ifeanyi had reportedly died after drowning in a swimming pool at his father’s private residence in the Banana Island area of Lagos State on October 31st, 2022.

The Nigerian Police Force had detained two people – Ifeanyi’s Nanny and cook – over suspected negligence on their part.

The Police, however, confirmed on Saturday that the three-year-old died from drowning after receiving an autopsy report.

Reacting in a statement he personally signed on Sunday, Obaseki expressed grief over the young Adeleke’s death.

The Edo State Governor asked God to grant the Adelekes the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Obaseki, in a statement, said: “It is with a heavy heart that I mourn the unfortunate passing of Ifeanyi Adeleke, the son of music star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido.

“The loss and circumstances of the toddler’s death is most disheartening and we share in the grief of the Adelekes, who are going through a difficult time.

“Young Ifeanyi was a delightful lad, loved by all and always armed with an infectious smile and demeanor.

“I commiserate with the Adelekes and pray that God grants them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
