We respect our choices – Foluke Daramola, hubby politically divided over support for Peter Obi, Bola Tinubu

Actress Foluke Daramola has spoken about her support for All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu and her husband Kayode Salako’s support for Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi.

The actress, on July26, congratulated her husband on his appointment as Lagos State chairman of the Labour Party, sparking reactions on social media as critics wondered why husband and wife are politically divided.

Speaking in a statement shared on Instagram on Tuesday, Foluke Daramola stated that her husband’s association with the opposition party will not affect her assignment with Tinubu and her recent appointment as the assistant director for the media department of the performing arts directorate of the APC’s presidential council.

Sharing photos of the former Lagos State Governor and his wife Remi Tinubu at her wedding, the actress wrote:

“Those who know my husband know he eats and breathes Labour Party. He joined Labour as a citizen who had a different ideology and wants to be part of a different structure. He never knew he will become the Chairman but in the long run, people in his party saw his passion, dedication and commitment and they decided to make him the Chairman in Lagos.”

“One of the attributes of my husband is that he is not autocratic. He respects my decision and my opinion. As I said, he had a different ideology to mine and yet he respects my decision to follow my belief in the APC structure.”

The actress further denied claims that she and her husband may collide to work in favour of either Labour Party or APC. She added:

“We are people of integrity. My husband will not come to share sensitive information about his party with me and I will not do the same. There is still a long way to go in life and our reputation is very important to us,”

On June 29, Yoruba movie stars including Foluke Daramola, Jide Kosoko, Adebayo Salami, also known as Oga Bello, Taiwo Hassan, better known as Ogogo, Faithia Williams, Yinka Quadri, Lanre Hassan, popularly known as Iya Awero, Eniola Ajao, Olaiya Igwe, Femi Adebayo, Shola Kosoko and Murphy Afolabi declared their support for Bola Tinubu.
