Varane, Benzema Make France Squad Despite Injury Doubt [FULL LIST]

Manchester United defender, Raphael Varane has been selected in France’s 25-man World Cup Squad.

Despite injury doubts, the 29-year old among others made the World Cup list for his country.

Varane who picked a knock in their tie against Chelsea has been ruled out of action by Manchester United manager, Erik Ten Hag.

The former Real Madrid player worried he will not make Didier Deschamps’ World Cup squad due to his Injury.

Juventus star, Paul Pogba, has already been ruled out due to a meniscus injury that has stopped him from playing thus far.

However, Chelsea midfielder, N’Golo Kante, who played with Pogba in midfield the first time around, has not yet fully recovered from a hamstring injury in time to play.

The list does not include Anthony Martial, who has 30 France appearances under Deschamps.

The lineup however included the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner Kazim Benzema, who is “struggling” with match fitness.

Deschamps, after making his selections, noted this injury doubts but said, “He will be with us despite the injury he suffered — his injury is because he played a lot in a short period which affected him”.

“I believe that he will do everything he can to ready for the France-Australia match”. he added.

The red-hot RB Leipzig striker, Christopher Nkuku, also made the list.
