Tottenham add ex-Real Madrid scout to recruitment team

Tottenham have added former Real Madrid scout Jeff Vetere to their backroom team.

Spurs have been overhauling their recruitment structure following the arrival of Fabio Paratici as managing director of football in the summer of 2021.

The Italian was instrumental in the appointment of Antonio Conte as head coach in November 2021, while he has overseen most of Tottenham’s transfer business following the resignation of technical performance director Steve Hitchen.

Football.London report that Paratici has now added ex-Real Madrid scout Vetere to his staff, returning to the sport after four years out of the game.

Vetere also has experience as a scout at Newcastle and Aston Villa, while he has held directorial roles at Charlton and Birmingham.

The 56-year-old joins a host of new appointments behind the scenes at Spurs. In July, Everton’s former head of recruitment and development Gretar Steinsson joined as performance director, while Rangers’ head of scouting Andy Scoulding signed on as head of football strategy.

Manchester City’s head of academy coaching Simon Davies moved to Tottenham in August, and scout Chris Scudder joined following spells at West Ham, Derby, Brentford and Leeds.

Club legend Jermain Defoe and ex-City midfielder Yaya Toure were appointed to the academy staff in recent months.
