The winner of the PFA Vertu Motors League Two Fans’ Player of the Month

Bradford City’s Andy Cook has been voted the PFA Vertu Motors League Two Fans’ Player of the Month for September.

The striker scored five goals for the Bantams across four matches last month, aiding their push for promotion back to League One.

Cook began September by scoring Bradford’s opening goal in a 2-1 win against Walsall, before grabbing a match-winning double in another 2-1 win, this time away to Tranmere Rovers.

The 31-year-old fired home another brace in Bradford’s 3-0 triumph over Stevenage, before eventually cooling off and drawing a blank in a 2-2 draw against AFC Wimbledon.

Cook wins the award with 23% of the vote, beating off competition from Barrow’s Josh Gordon and Northampton Town’s Sam Hoskins, who both finished with 17%. Gordon continued his fast start to the season with a further three goals in September, while Hoskins scored four times to become the first EFL player to reach double figures for the campaign.

Leyton Orient’s Paul Smyth added two further goals and earned a fourth-place finish with 16%, with Swindon Town’s Ben Gladwin in fifth with 14% after registering three assists.

Orient goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux finished sixth with 12%. The Chilean kept four clean sheets in four games throughout September, notably saving a last-minute penalty in their 1-0 win at Rochdale.
