Tension In Imo As Unknown Gunmen Storm Police Station, Kill Officers, Burnt Vehicles

No fewer than four police officers were killed in an attack, at the Agwa Divisional Police headquarters in Imo state by unknown gunmen who are wreaking havoc in the Southeastern part of the country.

According to DAILY POST, the incident occurred on Friday night when the assailants invaded the area shooting sporadically before gaining access to the station.

The Policeman who confirmed the incident to journalists on Saturday said the attack has triggered tension within the local government.

He claimed that the gunmen destroyed other valuable things and set a number of the station’s vehicles on fire.

He said: “There was an attack in the station and we learnt that about four officers were killed. The total damage cannot be ascertained at the moment.”

At the time of filing this report, the Police Public Relations Officer, Micheal Abattam is yet to issue any statement on the incident.
