Taraba Election: NSCDC deploys over 2,500 personnel, warns politicians against breach of peace

No fewer than 2,500 men and officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have been deployed to various locations across Taraba State.

The deployment according to the Taraba Commandant, Yakubu Ibrahim, is to ensure a peaceful and crime-free governorship and state House of Assembly elections scheduled for tomorrow.

Speaking through the command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Iliya Samaila, on Friday during a media parley, the Commandant, noted that apart from the sixteen councils, men and officers of the Corps have been deployed to Special Development Areas in the state.

The NSCDC boss who said the Command is fully prepared to tackle every situation before, during and after the polls, assured the people of a peaceful exercise.

”Under the leadership of Yakubu Ibrahim, the Command attaches much importance to the protection and safety of the citizenry hence the need to deploy measurable officers across the state for the exercise,” the PRO said.

“We want to ensure crime-free conduct of tomorrow’s governorship and state house of assembly elections in the entire state.

“Greater attention has been channelled to crisis-prone areas with a view to maintaining peace and order before, during and after the election”.

He urged the people not to entertain fear while voting for the candidates of their choice, insisting his men are combat-ready to engage any unforeseen situation.

Reiterating the Command’s readiness to bring to book any person or group attempting to breach the peace of the state, he warned political actors to respect the Peace Accord they recently signed.
