Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen on his Napoli goal target after win against Hellas Verona

Napoli started the 2022/23 Serie A season on a positive note, recording a 5-2 away victory at the Marc Antonio Bentegodi against Hellas Verona.

Osimhen led the line for the Partenopei, forming a three-man attack alongside Hirving Lozano and new signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

In his post-match interview with DAZN as reported by Tutto Napoli, Osimhen stated that he was happy to have started the new season on a high and he is more focused on helping the team rather than setting a personal goal target for himself.

Osimhen said: “I’m very happy, it was very important to start well. We have to feel the same as last year and start in the best way.

“I’m not the type of player who sets a goal goal, I want to score to help the team, I put the collective in front.”

The Nigerian international also linked up well with the new Georgian signing, Kvaratskhelia, who also bagged one (1) goal and two (2) assists in the match against Hellas Verona.

Osimhen stated that he is trying to help the 21-year-old youngster settle in at the Naples club, after completing an €8m move from Georgian club Dinamo Batumi.

“Two minutes before the goal he told me that he wanted a goal from me,” Osimhen said concerning Kvaratskhelia.

“There is a good relationship, I have been here for three years and I help him integrate. We have seen what player he is on the pitch.”

Osimhen recorded a total of 18 goals and 6 assists in all competitions for Napoli during the 2021/22 season despite missing over two months due to injury.
