The 20-year-old Sweden-based striker makes it to CAF’s 10-man shortlist for the best young African player for the year, alongside other young hotshots on the continent.

According to the announcement post on the official CAF Twitter account on Thursday afternoon, Amoo is set to slug it out with Manchester United’s Hannibal Mejbri and 8 others for the award.

Other nominees for the 2022 CAF Young Player of the Year Award are RB Leipzig/Guinea’s Ilaix Moriba, Rennes/Ghana’s Kamaldeen Sulemana, AC Horsens/Gambia’s James Gomez, and Alaves/Equatorial Guinea’s goalkeeper Jesus Owono.

Lorient/Burkina Faso’s Django Ouattara also makes the list as well as RB Salzburg/Ivory Coast’s Karim Konate, Reims/Mali’s El Bilal Toure, and Metz/Senegal’s Pape Matar Sarr.

Amoo, who plays for Danish champions FC Copenhagen, is yet to make an appearance for the national team, making do with a place on the substitutes’ bench for the second leg of the Ghana encounter.

Overall, the Super Eagles star played 12 matches during the 2021/22 season, scoring one (1) goal and making one (1) assist.
