Students Join Lecturers To Protest “No-Work, No-Pay” Policy

Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) today held their nationwide strike to protest Federal Government’s “no-work, no-pay” policy.

Naija News learnt that students joined their lecturers in protesting the government’s refusal to pay the seven-month salary backlog and half payment of October salaries of ASUU members.

Naija News reported two days ago that the academic body made an announcement to embark on a one-day nationwide protest rally over the implementation by the Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government of a “no-work, no-pay” policy for lecturers in the country.

It was gathered that the nationwide protest rally would hold at the branch level of the union across public university campuses nationwide, with lectures suspended for the one-day protest.

Confirming the new directive to Nigerian Tribune on Sunday, the chairman of ASUU, University of Lagos (UNILAG) branch, Dr Dele Ashiru, said UNILAG-ASUU had fixed Tuesday, November 15, for its own rally.
