Stakeholders from government and private sector are set to deliberate on the standard of practice of health and education in Nigeria as well as proffer strategic solutions for the future at The August 2022 Event in Lagos.
The event, which will hold on August 24, is jointly organised by the Chief Moses Adekoyejo Majekodunmi Foundation (MAMF) in collaboration with St. Nicholas Hospital.
The event, is aimed at celebrating the legacy of Chief Moses Adekoyejo Majekodunmi on Healthcare and Education with the theme: “The Nigerian Healthcare System: The Past, Present and the Future,” as well as St. Nicholas International accreditation by the Southern Council.
Dignitaries and seasoned experts from far and wide will speak on the state of the Healthcare system in Nigeria – how it started, where the country is and where it is expected to be in order to achieve a functional health sector.
The experts are intended to identify the changes that have occurred in the country’s healthcare system by comparing what the system was created to achieve and what it has been able to achieve thus far.
Dignitaries expected to grace the event include, His Royal Highness, Muhammad Sanusi II Sarkin Kano, who will be the chairman of the event and Prof. Adesegun Abudu of the Royal Hospital, Birmingham, United Kingdom, who will be delivering the keynote address.
Others are the Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Enahire; the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi and the Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker among others.
Speaking at a press conference to herald the August event, the Chairman, MAMF, Mr. Desmond Majekodunmi, said the legacy, life and birth month of Dr. Moses Adekoyejo Majekodunmi will continue to celebrated 10 years after his passing to greater glory.
According to him, Majekodunmi dedicated a greater portion of his life to developing the healthcare system in Nigeria, in which the foundation is proud to continue collaborating with St. Nicholas Hospital on the August Event lecture series.
Speaking about the August event, the Executive Director, MAMF, Mrs. Bolaji Fati, said it is held every two years and focuses on the work of the foundation as well as its corporate social responsibility initiatives in healthcare and education sector.
She said it also sensitises participants to cutting-edge advances in Medicare with the St. Nicholas Hospital Continuous Medical Education lecture series, adding that the event will also celebrate the International accreditation of the hospital.
Also speaking, the Chairman, of The August Event Planning Committee, Dr. Ebun Bamgboye, said distinguished and seasoned medical experts will be brought together from home and abroad to tackle this topical issue in the nation’s healthcare system.
He said they will also dissect how the health and education sectors can be move effectively from where they are now to where they ought to be.
“We are confident that with the panel discussions in place and the Continuous Medical Education lectures lined up, this event promises to be engaging and enlightening,” Bamgboye said.
