Soludo Announces New Title For State Commissioner

Sit-At-Home Order: Soludo Gives Update On Discussion With IPOB

Anambra State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Dr Obinna Ngonadi, will henceforth be addressed as the Commissioner for Industry, the state government announced.

The name change was in the order of a directive by the state Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, Naija News reports.

It was said that the State Executive Council met on Monday, November 7, and it resolved to remove the Trade and Commerce aspect of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

This was confirmed in a statement released Tuesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu.

According to the statement, the Trade and Commerce aspect of the Ministry will, until further notice by the government, be domiciled under the Governor’s Office.

Chukwulobelu said that all activities relating to trade and commerce would henceforth be channelled to Governor Soludo’s desk due to the development.

He noted that the decision would enable the Ministry of Industry to focus on the Governor’s industrialisation agenda and for more excellent performance, pointing out that the reorganisation was immediate.

Ngonadi, who has been at loggerheads with traders and some market leaders across the state over allegations of ‘commercialising’ market spaces, will now supervise only the ministry of industry.

The statement read, “The Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Dr Obinna Ngonadi, will henceforth be addressed as the Commissioner for Industry.

“The Trade and Commerce aspect of the Ministry will, until further notice, be domiciled under the Governor’s Office. By implication, all activities relating to trade and commerce should be channelled to the Governor’s Office.

“This decision is to enable the Ministry of Industry to focus on the industrialization agenda of the Governor and for more excellent performance.

“The above reorganisation is with immediate effect.”
