Shettima missing as Tinubu’s campaign train hits Ekiti

Vice Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kashim Shettima, was absent during Bola Tinubu’s campaign in Ekiti on Friday, February 3, ahead of this month’s elections.

Mr Shettima was notably missing at the gathering at Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti amidst rising tensions across various cities in the country, triggered by the recent increase in price of petrol and the scarcity of the new naira note.

The APC presidential candidate, Mr Tinubu, arrived at the campaign after cameo appearances from Nollywood actors including Saidi Balogun, Jide Kosoko and Yinka Quadri, all of whom have received heavy backlash from Nigerians for supporting the former Lagos governor.

Critics of the actors are opposing their support for Mr Tinubu, who faces multiple corruption allegations and is rumoured to be unhealthy for the rigors of Nigeria’s presidency.

Mr Tinubu, who spent less than an hour in the campaign venue, urged the people of Ekiti to vote for him in the February 25 polls.

He, however, failed to comment on his plan to tackle critical issues facing the country, including ongoing security, economic and diplomatic crises.

The APC presidential candidate ended his speech without mentioning the whereabouts of the former Borno governor, leaving the public wondering.
