Two gunmen have been gunned down in Anambra State by joint security operatives comprising the military and police, recovering four automatic pump action guns.
This was made known by the state police command in a statement released on Sunday by the public relations officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga.
He stated that joint forces who responded to the emergency call recovered ”one cutlass, one ash-colored Lexus jeep 350 with Reg nos KJA- 666HE; one unregistered white Toyota Hilux jeep, and one white Toyota Corolla with Reg number HAL- 732RF, one sliver Highlander jeep without Reg nos, and four unregistered motorcycles.”
Ikenga also noted that the recovery followed a distress call at about 9:30 am on 23/7/2022 along Onitsha/Owerri expressway by the junction leading to Okija Nkwo Market.
Ikenga stated, “Some hoodlums blocked the road and were robbing/extorting motorists. The joint forces responded swiftly and engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel. They neutralized one of the armed men while others escaped the scene with bullet wounds.”

Meanwhile, the Edo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force said it had arrested a notorious gun runner terrorizing some communities in the state.
Naija News learned there was celebration in the Ikhuenobo community over the weekend when the news broke out that the wanted criminal, Clement Goubadia, popularly called Babuze has been arrested.
Reports had it that the suspect about two months ago shot one Frank Eferin dead in the presence of a policeman.
It was further alleged that the criminal also attacked a police officer identified as ASP Jolly Ewiwilem who was attached to the Okhuahe division, the same day, before shooting the victim in his presence.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Abutu Yaro, who got the report of the incident, immediately directed operatives of the Command Intelligence Team to smoke the fleeing suspect out of his hiding.
