Real Madrid’s key player to miss Club World Cup

Real Madrid star Eden Hazard suffered a fresh injury blow and will miss their Club World Cup tie against Al Ahly on Wednesday.

Real Madrid confirmed in a statement via its website at the weekend that Hazard has been diagnosed with patellar tendinosis in his left knee and is under observation.

Hazard is obviously unable to recover on time to feature for Real Madrid against Al Ahly.

“After the tests carried out today on Eden Hazard by Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with patellar tendinosis in his left knee and is under observation,” Real Madrid disclosed in a statement.

Hazard joined Real Madrid from Chelsea in 2019, but his spell at the Santiago Bernabeu so far has been a disaster.

A combination of injuries and poor form has seen the Belgian drop well down the pecking order under Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Hazard has rarely been considered for selection, even when he is fit.
