Reactions as Frankfurt beat Aribo, Rangers, Super Eagles on penalties in Europa League title

ex-Arsenal star Ramsey denies Aribo, Bassey UELfinal immortality

Ramsey blamed for penalty miss as Aribo becomes Rangers legend after Europa League loss to Frankfurt.

The first half ended without goals for both sides with very little chances created.

In the second half, Aribo would capitalize on a mistake in defense to give Rangers the lead in the 57th minute.

The lead did not last long as Colombian striker Rafael Borre converted a ball through to him by Filip Kostic to equalize for Eintracht Frankfurt in the 69th minute.

The game would proceed to extra time as both teams were unable to find a late winner.

No goals were scored in extra time which meant that the game would be decided on penalties.

Frankfurt would convert all five spot kicks while former Arsenal man Aaron Ramsey missed for Rangers.

German Bundesliga side took the title after winning the shoot out 5-4 at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium in Seville.

Super Eagles star Aribo scored in the Europa League final to put Rangers in front. The goal was a huge deal for both Aribo and the club.

The 25-year-old Super Eagles star joined Alex Iwobi as the only Nigerian player to have scored in the final of an European competition.

Aribo played as a false nine, and received a lot of praise for his performance on Twitter.

Former Arsenal man Aaron Ramsey also rose to the top of the trends after his penalty miss.

Nigerians descended on Ramsey as his missed penalty cost three Super Eagles stars Aribo, Leon Balogun and Calvin Bassey an Europa League winners medal.
