Put people’s interest first – Akeredolu tells State lawmakers

Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the Governor of Ondo State has urged the newly inaugurated State lawmakers to prioritise the interests of the people of the state in the performance of their duties.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde, the Governor emphasized that the lawmakers should view their responsibilities as a service to the people who elected them as their representatives.

Akeredolu who had earlier congratulated the new Speaker personally, urged the legislators to be impartial and carry out their duties without any fear, favouritism, or interference.

He also praised the Assembly members for electing their principal officers without any conflict or misunderstanding.

The Governor emphasized that legislation plays a vital role in organizing, developing, and stabilizing society, and safeguarding citizens.

“Legislation is a crucial assignment and one of the most important instruments of government in organizing, developing, and stabilizing society and protecting citizens.

“I congratulate our newly inaugurated lawmakers. Your people have invested trust and confidence in you. You must strive to justify the mandate the people invested in you through quality representation,” he said.
