Police Officers Kidnapped In Ogun Regain Freedom

Officers of the Nigeria Police Force that were earlier kidnapped in Ogun State have regained their freedom, Naija News learned.

This news platform had reported earlier that some personnel were whisked away at broad daylight on Thursday at Wasinmi, in the Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that the kidnapped cops had just arrived in Ogun State from Zone 2, Onikan, Lagos State, for an investigation before they fall victim to the assailants.

The police spokesman in Ogun State, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who had insisted that only one policeman was among the three victims, revealed in a statement on Friday night that the kidnappers carried out the operation in military camouflage.

Speaking on the rescue operation, the police mouthpiece said the Commissioner of Police in Ogun, Lanre Bankole, had directed the command’s anti-kidnapping unit and other tactical squads to move into the area and join forces with Ewekoro Divisional Headquarters in rescuing the victims.

With what he called intensive pressure and aggressive trailing, Oyeyemi said that assailants faced pressure from the forces and eventually release their captives.

He said the victims had reunited with their families, adding that the Commissioner of Police had also directed that the kidnappers must be arrested and brought to book.
