Gunmen suspected to be bandits have allegedly abducted two children at the Gidan-Kwano Community around the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State, in the early hours of Thursday.

This has led to palpable fear and tension in the community and around the university’s main campus at Gidan-Kwano along the Minna-Bida road.

It was gathered that during the attack, the bandits abducted one person from the community.

It was also learnt that one of the trading stalls directly in front of the school gate was also robbed by the bandits.

Some students on campus told DAILY POST that they heard gunshots in front of the main gate of the institution at about some minutes to 12 noon in the morning.

The university’s Student Union President, Shuaib Isiaka Yahaya, confirmed the incident.

This attack is coming after a recent incident at the senior staff quarters of the University of Abuja on the 2nd of November, 2021, where they kidnapped about six persons.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Abiodun Wasiu confirmed the incident saying some suspected hoodlums attacked a shop at Gidan-Kwano opposite FUT Gate and abducted two children of the shop owner.

He explained that the police and vigilante were immediately drafted to the scene for an aggressive manhunt of the hoodlums.

“During stop and search, one of the suspects was intercepted and arrested at Barkuta village,” Abiodun revealed.(Dailypost)
