Ilechukwu guided his side to a 2-1 win over Enyimba on match week 3 in the NPFL at the New Jos Stadium, but stated there was concerns over the state of mind of his players and it was worrisome.

Speaking to the media, the Plateau United coach said that his team is really going through some difficult patch.

“We have psychological issues and our psychologists are working really hard to correct that.”

“And we have a huge challenge in our defence line. We really need to put things in order because our last game against Bendel Insurance. The same goal, almost the same time, in the dying embers of the game.

“So we’ll do everything possible to get our heads in the game before we play Akwa United.”

Plateau United started their campaign with 3-3 draw against Shooting Stars, before losing to Bendel Insurance.

Plateau United however needed a late strike from substitute Kazeem Ogunleye to seal the win over Enyimba FC.

The victory over Enyimba is their first of the campaign, and Ilechukwu expressed delight with the outcome of the “difficult” game.

“Great game and a first win against the best team in Nigeria, Enyimba, and one of the best teams so far I’ve played,” Fidelis Ilechukwu remarked after the game.

“I think we gave our best in today’s (Sunday) game in as much as we had a lot of challenges but I know in the coming days, Plateau United will become good,” the Coach disclosed.

Plateau United will be guest to Akwa United at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
