‘He Has Openly Declared War On Atiku’ – Ex-Lawmaker Knocks Wike For Humiliating Former Governor, Deputy Speaker
A former lawmaker, Senator Lee Maeba has lambasted Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State for working against the presidential ambition of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)...

Despite the sharp division between the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, the main opposition party will be carrying on with activities for its 2023 presidential campaign.

Recall that Nyesom Wike, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Chief Olabode George and many others had pulled out of the Atiku Presidential Campaign Council pending the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Dr Iyorchia Ayu.

According to reports, the PDP has fixed Wednesday, September 28, for the inauguration of the Campaign Council.

The presidential and National Assembly campaigns begin the same Wednesday and will run through Thursday, February 23, 2023, while the elections will hold Saturday, February 25, 2023.

A source, who told Vanguard that the PDP is considering three states/ venues for the flag-off of its campaign, revealed that the PDP was putting finishing touches to drawing up the programme of events for the inauguration as well as logistics.

The source said: “For now, Abuja, where we will be inaugurating the Campaign Council, Uyo, Asaba and Yola are among the venues being considered. We are taking a lot of things into consideration.

“We have not settled for a venue because our candidate is still moving around meeting zonal caucuses to hear from each one of them directly.”

Also speaking, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Debo Ologunagba said that the party was going ahead with its plans and programmes despite the crisis rocking the party.

He said, “Our programmes are going ahead as planned, nothing has changed. The date for the inauguration of our campaign council is already known, we will make the venue and time for the flag-off public when we are ready.”
