The Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has ahead of the 2023 general elections, received no fewer than 5000 defectors from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Naija News understands that the defectors were received into the opposition camp on Sunday in Avrugo and neighbouring ward in Igalamela/Odolu Local Government area of the state.

Confirming the development, the former Vice Chairman of Igalamela/Odolu Local Government, Hon Collins Adama, who led other party members to defect to the PDP, said the ruling party has failed woefully.

He urged the citizens to ensure they come out en-mass to vote out bad leadership in the 2023 general election. According to him, any mistake made now will spell doom for the nation.

He also mocked the incumbent government, asking it to be ready to pack its loads from both Kogi State and at the national level.

Naija News understands that the defectors were received into the PDP fold yesterday by Igalamela/Odolu Local Government PDP chairman, Hon Attai Ndamusa Salifu and the party State Assembly candidate, Hon Umar Zakito.

Presidential candidate of the APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday denied withdrawing from the 2023 presidential election.

The former Governor of Lagos State who shared a short video of himself on a treadmill, debunked rumours making the rounds that he is not contesting in the forthcoming race again.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) last Wednesday raised an embargo on the presidential campaign. Recall that Tinubu travelled out of the country a few days before the commencement of the 2023 presidential campaign.

There are speculations that Tinubu travelled out of Nigeria for medical reasons, speculation which has been denied by his loyalists.

A loyalist of the APC presidential candidate had claimed that Tinubu travelled out of the country to rest ahead of the camp season.

Tinubu in the video stated that some people have claimed that he has died, while others said he has withdrawn from the presidential race.

The National leader of the ruling party said he has not withdrawn his presidential ambition.

He further stated that he is strong and healthy, adding that he is ready to see Nigerians from the first day if he emerges as President.
