PDP Postpones Atiku’s Presidential Campaign Rally In Kebbi

Atiku Reacts As INEC Declares Adeleke Winner

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced a new date for its Presidential Campaign rally in Kebbi State.

Naija News understands that the party had scheduled November 12 for its Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to visit the state for his campaign.

The chairman of the state publicity sub-committee on campaigns, Sani Dododo, revealed in a statement released on Wednesday that Atiku would now be expected in the state on January 28, 2023.

Dododo explained that the electioneering event was rescheduled based on certain strategic adjustments by the Presidential Campaign Council.

“The presidential campaign, which was scheduled to be held on Saturday, November 12, will now be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023.

“All constituted committees will continue their duties for smooth hosting of the campaign.

“I want to use this medium to express regret over the postponement; however, I want to plead with all supporters to continue with the arrangement for the rally.

“In a similar vein, the committee warns in strong terms that members should desist from spreading rumours as well as statements capable of causing disunity amongst the party members,” the statement read.

PDP said on Wednesday that its presidential candidate, Atiku, will get higher votes in Borno State than his opponent from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the forthcoming presidential election.

PDP said even though the state is an APC domain, the Wazirin Adamawa’s influence will make it hard for the ruling party to get up to 25% votes in the presidential election.

Naija News reports that the Presidential Campaign Rally of the PDP holds today in Maiduguri, Borno State Capital.

Atiku, his running mate, Sen. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, Governor Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Edo State’s Governor Godwin Obaseki, and other top chieftains of the party and supporters are expected to converge today at the Ramat Square in Maiduguri.

PDP, in a statement by its spokesman, Hon. Debo Ologunagba boasted that it would take extra efforts for Tinubu to secure 25% votes in most States of the country, particularly in Borno State, despite being the home State of the APC Vice-Presidential Candidate, Sen. Kashim Shettima.

“This is because, while Asiwaju Tinubu is not on the ground being no match for PDP’s more popular and much loved Atiku Abubakar, the APC’s Vice Presidential Candidate, Kashim Shettima has since lost face with the citizens following his abysmal failure as Governor of the State.

“Since the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as Presidential Candidate of the PDP, the APC, particularly in Borno State has been disconcerted, confused and disorganized by the mass exodus of APC members into the PDP across the nooks and crannies of the State in support of Atiku Abubakar and the PDP,” the statement said.
