PDP Chieftain Speaks On Wike Supporting Tinubu’s Presidential Ambition

A former Minister of Transportation, Ebenezer Babatope on Thursday reacted to the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The presidential candidate of the main opposition party, Atiku Abubakar and the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike in the last few months have not been on the same page.

The camp of the Rivers State Governor had demanded the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu resign from office.

Governor Wike’s camp insisted that the presidential candidate of the party and the National Chairman can not come from the same region.

The development saw the camp of Governor Wike pull out of the campaign PDP, insisting on Ayu resigning from office.

Babatope while speaking on the crisis in an interview with Daily Independent said Governor Wike will not work for the presidential ambition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer, Bola Tinubu.

According to Babatope, Wike and Atiku will soon end their differences and work together ahead of the 2023 general election.

He noted that supporters of the party have suffered in the last 12 weeks due to the crisis in the party.

Babatope said supporters of the party will be happy if the issue in the party is resolved.

The PDP chieftain said Wike is a loyal PDP leader and will not work for Tinubu in the forthcoming election.

Babatope said, “For us here in Osun, the choice for us is very clear. We cannot but support Atiku and the PDP. Not just that, our daughter, Titi is married to Atiku. So, we are fully behind Atiku and we are confident that PDP will win the 2023 presidential election”.
