Oyo APC Accuses Makinde Of Handling Security With Levity

2023: Makinde Declares Interest For Second Term

The Oyo State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the State Governor, Seyi Makinde of handling security issues in the state with levity.

Naija News reports that the Oyo APC had claimed that the governor isn’t serious about handling security issues in the state, as cases of criminal activities along major highways in the state in recent times are surging.

The APC alleged that available reports reveal that cases of organized crime and security breaches have been on the increase in some parts of the state in recent times.

In a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, the main opposition in the party in the state said Makinde was only paying lip service to security matters in the state.

The Oyo APC also claimed that the governor hasn’t been able to show that he is capable of solving the myriad of problems in the state.

The party furthered that “Apart from the fact that Governor Makinde has failed to demonstrate competence and commitment in power, he has not been able to show the world that he is capable of solving the myriad of problems facing the state, particularly as this concerns insecurity, environmental degradation, youth unemployment, falling standard of economy, infrastructural deficit among others.

“The situation is made worse by Makinde’s penchant for globetrotting and dereliction of duty since he prefers holidaying abroad and hibernating in Port Harcourt, Rivers State more often than not as it pleases him.

“For some weeks now, there have been daily reports of armed robbery and kidnapping on Ibadan-Ijebu-Ode and Ibadan-Lagos Expressway while governors of Ogun and Lagos states have responded well, their counterpart in Oyo State was nowhere to be found as we have it on good authority that Gov. Makinde is in the United States for no reason other than tourism and junketing.”
