Osun PDP Threatens To Use EFCC To Arrest Govt Officials In Possession Of 'Exotic' Vehicles

Osun State government officials have been asked to return all exotic vehicles in their possession illegally with immediate effect, or risk encounters with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and officials of the  Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC).

Naija News reports that the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) issued the warning on Thursday.

In a statement made available to journalists today by the party’s Director of Media, Bamiji Oladele, PDP said it has a record confirming that some government officials have over 90 vehicles.

The statement noted that the vehicles include Jeeps and other assorted cars already shared among the officials.

“We are compiling a detailed petition to be sent to the anti-corruption commissions, EFCC, ICPC and others. We are providing details of the sharing of exotic vehicles and beneficiaries.

“We have documentary proof of about 15 vehicles with the First Lady, 20 top cars with the governor’s son, and about 30 variously shared to five other top officials.

“We have records of 30 other vehicles raided by some top agencies. In RAAMP, eight vehicles were taken away, including jeeps, hummer bus and others. Other cronies, including a professor based in Abuja, also went away with a jeep belonging to a top agency”, the statement said.

PDP stressed that it has an entire inventory of all the said vehicles, including the plate numbers, engine numbers and their state before they were shared.

“We call on those holding the vehicles to return them before November 26th,” the party warned, stating that from November 27, the incoming administration will ensure retrieval of the vehicles through administrative channels, anti-corruption agencies, and criminal indictments.

Naija News recalls that Senator Ademola Adeleke emerged as the winner of the last governorship election in Osun State.

The PDP candidate was in July issued a certificate of return in the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Osogbo, the state capital.

His inauguration is expected to hold on the 27th of November, 2022, when the incumbent Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola’s, tenure will end.
