Unknown Gunmen Abduct Three Missionaries In Kogi

The Rector of the Federal School of Statistics in Manchok, Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Mangbon T. Amos, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

Reports obtained by Naija News on Wednesday morning revealed that the assailants stormed Manchok at late night on Monday, August 1 and whisked away the academician.

A source who reportedly disclosed the incident to The PUNCH said the gunmen arrived in the community in their large numbers at about 8 pm and shot one person dead while they also kidnapped a lady and the school rector.

The resident who revealed his name as John Auta told the news platform that the terrorists who were with sophisticated weapons started shooting sporadically before abducting the duo.

He lamented that some communities in the local government had been experiencing attacks by terrorists and that security officials were not doing enough to arrest the situation.

Auta challenged the government to come to the rescue of the citizens by ensuring heavy security is mounted at strategic positions to curtail the activities of these criminal elements.

Another source as at the reporting time told the medium that the kidnappers are yet to make contact with family members of the school authority.

The State Police Command also has not released any official statement on the incident, Naija News understands.

The incident is coming barely three weeks after two Ad hoc staff in charge of distributing mosquito nets were gunned down en route Zangang-Zankan road in the same LGA.
