Ondo bye-election: Alade wins APC primary (see full results)

Mayokun Lawson-Alade, popularly referred to as ‘LAAF’, has emerged victorious within the All Progressives Congress oblique major election held on Tuesday to resolve the social gathering flagbearer for the February 26 Home of Representatives bye-election in Akure North/South.

Former member of the Home of Representatives and Secretary to the Ondo State Authorities, Hon Ifedayo Abegunde; and former member of the Meeting, Hon. Ademola Adegoroye, amongst others, have been defeated by Alade, a greenhorn from the Akure South Native Authorities Space.

He additionally defeated the previous Commissioner for Girls Affairs, Hon. Omowunmi Olatunji-Ohwovoriole; the Senate Director of Administration, Mr. Dennis Fadairo; a former lawmaker, Hon. Abiodun Derin Adesida; a member of the Ondo State Home of Meeting, Hon. Sunday Olajide; and a former lawmaker, Hon. Abiodun Derin Adesida.

Lawson-Alade obtained 305 votes out of 702, whereas Olatunji-Ohwovoriole obtained 196 votes, Adegoroye obtained 66 votes, Olajide obtained 13 votes, and Abegunde obtained 56 votes.

Fadairo obtained 43 votes, Owoyemi 4, Adesida 16 whereas three votes have been nullified.

Mr Nkem Okeke, the outgoing Deputy Governor of Anambra State and Chairman of the Committee for the Main Election, introduced the outcomes, saying, “Based mostly on the electoral course of, Mayokun Lawson-Alade emerged because the winner of the elections.”

Following the loss of life of Hon Adedayo Omolafe in August 2021, the Home of Representatives seat for Akure South/North turned vacant.
