A popular actor and an ambassador for the Ogun Health Insurance Scheme, Odunlade Adekola, recently visited some major markets and motor parks in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, to sensitise people to the importance of having a health insurance scheme, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

The actor was accompanied by the Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Health, Dr Tayo Lawal; the Executive Secretary, Ogun State Health Insurance Agency, Dr Afolabi Dosumu; and other government officials.

Odunlade encouraged the people to embrace the scheme, saying that Governor Dapo Abiodun’s investment in the health sector would help them, irrespective of their occupation, whenever they fall sick.

He added that the monthly payment of N1,000 per person and N4,000 for a family of six would help fast-track the government’s effort toward achieving universal health coverage.

He said, “None of us prays for sickness but as we grow older, we tend to naturally have some health issues, which call for care.

“With the monthly payment of N1,000 per person and N4,000 for a family of six, you don’t have to run from pillar to post to access healthcare.

The team visited Kuto Market, Sapon, Omida, Itoku, Lafenwa and Oke-Ilewo areas of the city.

On his part, Dosumu noted that the roadshow would be replicated in all four zones of the state, including Yewa, Ijebu and Remo.
