Ahead of the yuletide celebration, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps has assured that about 85 per cent of its officers will be deployed to provide security across the nation.

The Commandant General, Ahmed Audi, who made this known in a statement signed by the corps spokesperson, Olusola Odumosu, on Friday, affirmed that the Corps and other security agencies were ready to forestall any form of violence during the season.

The CG charged the zonal commanders and state commandants to expose criminals at their various hideouts and ensure the safety of lives and protection of public assets and infrastructure in their respective domains.

The CG also tasked state commands and all divisional offices in every local government area in the country to deploy effective operational teams for constant patrol of every nook and cranny, black spot, and flash point during this critical period when a crime is most prevalent.

Audi said, “It is time for extra work and we are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that Nigerians and friends alike enjoy the yuletide season. The security of our people is very sacrosanct, therefore, all hands must be fully on the deck. That is why I have ordered massive deployment of our personnel all over the country to ensure adequate security, enforcement of order, and implementation of citizens’ rights.

“We have made proper preparations and due to the dynamics of crime, a unique security template will be adopted to identify and prevent any attempt to disrupt the peace of the nation. We are going to deploy additional plainclothe and uniformed officers on the field and in public places to patrol and help prevent and address criminality that may arise in the course of the celebrations.

“About 85 percent of our entire workforce shall be deployed to public places, worship centers, and other areas such as amusement parks, gardens, shopping malls, markets, motor parks, train stations, airports, and seaports.”

He called on citizens and residents to be vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to security agencies for immediate action to nib crime in the bud.
