NSCDC coach rules on tenure of NFF boss, Gusau

Abubakar Ibrahim, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) FC head coach, has given his verdict on the tenure of the President of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Ibrahim Musa Gusau since he replaced Amaju Melvin Pinnick.

Gusau was elected the new President of the NFF last September.

He took over from Pinnick, who was the former President of the NFF for eight years.

Gusau, who has been in the football system for the past 20 years, has been promoting Nigeria football tirelessly in the entire country and internationally since replacing Pinnink for the past six months.

The 59-year-old sports administrator recently reached an agreement with the Iraqi Football Association to explore avenues for greater cooperation and collaboration in the football sphere.

Gusau, who improved football in Zamfara State and North-east, also extended the tenure of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) till the end of the 2022/23 Nigeria Premier Football League season.

DAILY POST reports that the IMC replaced the old League Management Company (LMC) last year. The new league body was inaugurated in October 2022 by Gusau.

However, speaking with DAILY POST on the development, Ibrahim said Gusau has done an ‘excellent job’ for Nigeria football since replacing Pinnick

He also expressed confidence that under his regime, the Super Eagles of Nigeria will not only win the AFCON 2023 but will qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and do very well in the competition.

Ibrahim said, “Gusau has been in the office for less than six months and has done an excellent job for Nigeria football both domestically and internationally.

“He has improved the Nigeria professional league since he took over from Pinnick last year.

“I wish him all the best, and I believe during his tenure as the NFF president, the sky will be the starting point for Nigeria football.

“I am also optimistic that under his regime, the Super Eagles will win the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, which will take place in Ivory Coast and also become the first African country that will reach the FIFA World Cup final in 2026.”
